Maintaining the prone

From one of my favorite authors, Anne Lamott (this is from her column in Salon.com)

In my 20s I devised a school of relaxation that has unfortunately fallen out of favor in the ensuing years -- it was called Prone Yoga. You just lie around as much as possible. You could read, listen to music, you could space out, or sleep. But you had to be lying down. Maintaining the prone.

I have to agree ... it is sooo all about maintaining the prone! At least for me anyway. (tee hee - I just like saying that phrase "maintaining the prone")

(I don't think I have anything worthwhile to say (stop! don't say it ... I know, okay?) I was going to write something around a quote I found discoursing on the Clinton marriage and why they are still together ... but the words aren't flowing. Besides being about the prone, I am also about maintaining the flow and it just ain't a'happening this evening. No prone, no flow, no energy. No nothing. AACK

I talked to my long lost pal, Hollinger last night and we had big fun. It's really, really nice to talk with a friend you've known forever and who just "knows" you in a certain way. Unlike things with my (now former) friend, Charlie, Hollinger has grown up too and the friendship has moved with it - we both can talk about stuff from the perspective of where we are now rather than where we were 10 years ago. We still laugh over the same stuff and how goofy we were then (and in many ways still are) and if he ever gets over his "techno fear" and moves into "techno joy", we may actually get to be email pals and stuff. There's always a special piece of my heart that he owns and always will.

Lyric for the day:

" ... been thinking 'bout the things that we said late last night when all the words I said just didnt come out right and you were so afraid that I'd found someone new but darling there's no need for what we're going through ..."

That is far and away the best idea for inner peace I have heard in a long time. I will go to work and spread the word about the mental, physical and spiritual benefits of maintaining the prone.

peace, love & prone-ity,

Did you see the latest picture of Anne Lamott in Salon? Jeepers, what the hell happened? She's just a few years older than me and he looks like hell ... like she's been on a ten year high or something and is just coming down. I can't believe she chose to put out a picture like that.
