The Juice is Still Loose...

Wow, 10 years. Man, I’m getting old. It’s been 10yrs since Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman were brutally murdered. My how time flies.

It seems like yesterday when O.J. Simpson was riding in the back of the white Bronco down the 405 in LA. It seems like yesterday when Judge Lance Ito was sitting behind the bench refereeing the ‘Trial of the Century’.

I think the word “surreal” was invented during this time. The confluence of events that took place then even today leaves us all scratching our heads. It truly was a once in a lifetime happening.

Thank God.

Hearing the talk this past week of what happened, the recollections by the principles involved and the re-showing of the mountain of evidence, conjured up the same old feelings I have about that case.

Now, I have gotten over it, like most have. I have become accepting of the fact that O.J. is free and that the jury made a horribly bad decision. I mean, hey that’s life, you know? I am ok living with the small satisfaction that O.J. is a social pariah and I have moved on. But reading and watching the stuff this week on the 10yr anniversary of the murders does, for now, bring back that anger that any sane/reasonable person has when giving serious thought to the outcome of that trial.

How many people have been convicted of murder in the last 10yrs that had only a quarter of the evidence in the O.J. Simpson case? Hundreds? Thousands? I don’t know, but I bet it’s a lot. I try not to think about it.

In the end, I am one of those people who spread the blame. I blame defense attorney Johnnie Cochran and his ‘Dream Team’ for their willingness to do ANYTHING to get O.J. off. I blame the Prosecution team of Marcia Clark and Christopher Darden for botching a slam-dunk case, but mostly I blame the jury. Honestly, I don’t care what rationalizations they have come up with; they let a guilty man walk. I know it. You know it. The American people know it. They allowed information outside of the case determine their decision on the evidence inside of it. It’s sad, really.

They let the fact that a detective used the word “nigger” 10yrs earlier have an impact on the blood found in the defendant’s home that came from a crime scene a few miles away. Unbelievable. They allowed the defense to successfully argue that the LAPD was so inept that they botched two crime scenes, yet at the same time they were brilliant enough to come up with a plan to frame someone, because he was black, in about 10 minutes time. Ree-diculous. Ok, time to stop…

Anyway, it’s now 10yrs later and we have all moved on. Sort of, anyway. One can only hope that O.J. gets his. I mean the karmic repercussions have got to hit someday, don’t they?

We will always have the memories, as bad as they are, of something that when it was called the “Trial of the Century”, it actually was just that. And 10yrs from now?…
...we will still be talking about it.

Tony, Tony, Tony...

Well, quite a season. I would call ‘The Sopranos’ season half-good, or maybe half-bad. Either way, it was an up and down season. At least the last two episodes were solid, especially with Adrianna getting whacked in such a ‘could see it coming, but didn’t see it coming’ kinda way. Bravo.

What did we learn? Well, Tony has a lot going on and frankly, it’s a bit too much. When you look at it from a ‘big picture’ prospective, Tony’s life should be more simple than it is. Between the (pointless) visits with Dr. Melfi, to his separation from Carmela to dealing with AJ and Meadow’s issues, to Tony Blundetto’s return and his ‘work problems’… well, the man has got a lot on his mind.

As for the final episode, it left some things to be desired, but not too bad. Now, I like a cliffhanger as much as the next guy, but waiting 23 months to find out what happens with Johnny Sack, is going to be way too hard. This is ridiculous. Makes me want to forget about the show and when they return, and out of spite, not tune in.

But I will.

Frampton Comes Alive!...

Hello…

Yes, I am still alive. Though, not living well. :) Actually, things are fine, just terribly busy. Work is crazy and my staff is short handed… blah, blah, blah….

The good news: Still religiously going to the gym and have lost 38lbs. total!!! Naturally, none of my pants fit and my shirts hang off of me, but I feel good. It’s nice to feel good when looking in the mirror. Oh and having one chin again is nice too.

If by chance there is anyone out there still checking in on this hideous blog, I will attempt to be more regular in my postings.

T :)
